Structured Column Packing is formed from vertical sheets of corrugated thin gauge metal with the angle of the corrugations reversed in adjacent sheets to form a very open honeycomb structure with inclined flow channels and a relatively high surface area. To simplify installation, it is delivered in preformed slabs or segments that are sized to fit through the vessel manways. A high surface area will only provide efficient mass transfer if it is effectively used to increase vapour liquid-contact and therefore a variety of surface enhancements are available to promote liquid spreading over the packing surface. The low resistance to vapour flow together with efficient use of available surface tends to give structured packings significant performance advantages over random packings in high vapour rate/low liquid rate systems. Dyna-Pak Type EM uses the industry standard corrugated perforated and embossed sheet metal to provide efficient vapour-liquid contact. The design of the embossed surface has been optimised to provide maximum wetability and the perforations enhance cross mixing of the process fluids. Dyna-Pak Type WG is a corrugated wire gauze style of packing to provide the most efficient packing surface required for fine chemicals separations. Dyna-Pak
Type EP is a Thermoplastic version of the EM type for use in corrosive
services and Dyna-Pak Type EC is manufactured in Ceramic and designed to be equivalent to the EM range. Distall also offer laboratory packing from 500m2/m3 to 3000m2/m3 and start from 20 mm diameter.
